Reef Encounters: My Fijian Escape at Namale

Updated: Oct 3

My recent journey to the South Pacific led me to a new gem—Fiji! I spent 12 unforgettable days at the luxurious, adults-only Namale Resort and Spa, an award-winning five-star sanctuary on the island of Vanua Levu. Owned by Tony Robbins, this stunning resort spans over 525 acres of lush, tropical landscapes, offering an unparalleled escape into tranquility.

Namale boasts just 19 Fijian-style bures and villas, each with private plunge pools, providing the ultimate in seclusion and luxury. The gourmet dining experience was nothing short of spectacular, with an ever-changing menu featuring fresh, local ingredients sourced from the resort’s own farms. Indulging in daily gourmet meals, including fresh-caught lobster, was an absolute delight, complemented by a premium selection of wines, beers, and spirits.

The world-renowned, 10,000-square-foot spa, perched on a volcanic cliff with breathtaking views of the Koro Sea, was a true highlight. I enjoyed luxurious treatments, including cocoa butter wraps, hot stone massages, and hydrotherapy sessions, all accompanied by champagne and snacks in a serene setting.

Evenings at Namale were filled with cultural dances, music, and the unforgettable experience of attending a traditional Kava ceremony. Fiji’s reputation as a premier snorkeling and diving destination was well-deserved, with the vibrant coral reefs at Namale offering crystal-clear waters and stunning marine life. While the beach is more suited for reef walks than swimming, the resort’s two pools provide the perfect spots for a refreshing dip.

Beyond the resort, I explored the island’s natural beauty with waterfall tours, a picnic on a secluded sandbar, and visits to a pearl farm. The Kava Bowl building added a touch of fun with bowling lanes, air hockey, chess, and private movie theaters.

From the moment I arrived, the warmth and hospitality of the Namale staff made me feel like family, and the friendliness extended beyond the resort to the local Fijians. Shopping for pearls and sampling local treats in town was a delightful experience, with everyone welcoming me with open arms.

Namale Resort and Spa is a luxurious, top-tier tropical paradise that combines the best of Costa Rica, Kauai, and Taha’a into one breathtaking island experience.
